The Quartier Latin and Luxembourg Fountains Hotel
Hotel February 3rd, 2010
It is a place in Paris that I love especially the Quartier Latin. Yes, its streets and alleys, some dating from the 13th century, are invaded by Mediterranean sandwich bars and restaurants more than Paris, but the unique atmosphere of this neighborhood home. I, after a detour to St. Germain-des-Pres and a visit to the Luxembourg Gardens, walk along the Boulevard Saint-Michel, plunge into the medieval world of the Hotel Cluny, then cross the bridge over the Seine to find myself in the Ile de la Cité, the Venice of Paris. My two favorite cultural poles face each other: two gardens representing two opposing eras which influenced my artistic tastes: the Middle Ages and the 19th century. A three star hotel with a rare elegance, the extent of these magical places, remarkably rue de Vaugirard, overlooks the historic districts, as intellectual and aesthetic interest.

Check the Luxembourg Gardens, which houses a former palace of the Florentine style commissioned by Marie de Medici, the second wife of Henry IV, today the Senate and exploration of the Orangerie and the Musée du Luxembourg in exhibitions but always temporary high quality walking and rest in the garden to contemplate the sculptures of queens, famous women, animals, Greek mythology and renowned figures: Beethoven, Flaubert, Baudelaire, Chopin ... A garden is part of the "French", the other "English". A long look at the magnificent fountains: the Marie de Medici Fountain, Fountain with the bust of Eugene Delacroix ... 17th and 19th centuries to meet and open their doors to the 20th century with sports activities, concerts in the bandstand , opera in the garden. This place was frequented by great writers: Baudelaire, Lamartine, Musset, Verlaine, Victor Hugo, Georges Sand, Balzac, Hemingway, Sartre, and many others. They have left their mark.
A detour in the Latin Quarter, indescribable as it is full of life and creations. Small streets, Harp and restaurants, the Huchette vault and its famous shops, Pantheon, Roman Catholic Church became the Republican temple arches and colonnades splendid interior, the Sorbonne, the historic heart. Remember that the Latin Quarter is named for the exclusive use of Latin in schools and universities where courses medieval settled in this neighborhood.

Arrival at the Abbots of Cluny, dating from the 15th century, its immense and incredible medieval garden, arranged by type of crops according to the customs of the Middle Ages, in imitation of the museum collections, the Forest of the Unicorn. This hotel is the oldest example of a private yard and garden. It hosts the National Museum of the Middle Ages, unique view of art and the history of Roman Gaul until the early 16th century. Superb architectural monument is enhanced by subtle lighting, soft and degraded, or flaming on the windows and turrets. Wonderful place steeped in the medieval imagination.
So many other places are accessible from the sumptuous Rue de Vaugirard: Saint-Germain, the Odeon Theatre, Notre Dame de Paris, the Louvre, the Tuileries, the Invalides and the Tour Montparnasse ... Huge volumes have been published, others can still be written as the wealth of these places and cultures is almost infinite.
Find a hotel in line with such an environment was a nice surprise. Ideally located rue de Vaugirard for a hike through these gems of Parisian culture, it prolongs the pleasure of the day as a aesthetics has been worked.
The Fountains Hotel Luxembourg is a credit to these neighborhoods, all colors, refined fabrics curtains or carpets, renovated with taste and creativity, displaying her contemporary baroque decoration inspired inner courtyard, its reception and stone slabs arranged aesthetically, beams and fireplace, indoor vaults, his paintings adorn the spacious rooms, whether single, double, triple, double or family suite superior rooms with 2 junior suites or deluxe. It's really beautiful and original, blending old house and new furniture in contemporary design. Excellent service, professional and dynamic, equipment height, warm hospitality, charm, calm and comfort, the house is take the style and in total harmony with these favorite places. Professional travel, tourism or romantic getaway alone or with family, seduction and effectively ensured the key! This hotel is definitely part of my poem Paris.
