It is a place in Paris that I love especially the Quartier Latin. Yes, its streets and alleys, some dating from the ^13th century, are invaded by Mediterranean sandwich bars and restaurants more than Paris, but the unique atmosphere of this neighborhood home. I, after a detour to St. Germain-des-Pres and a visit to the Luxembourg Gardens, walk along the Boulevard Saint-Michel, plunge into the medieval world of the Hotel Cluny, then cross the bridge over the Seine to find myself in the Ile de la Cité, the Venice of Paris. My two favorite cultural poles face each other: two gardens representing two opposing eras which influenced my artistic tastes: the Middle Ages and the ^19th century. A three star hotel with a rare elegance, the extent of these magical places, remarkably rue de Vaugirard, overlooks the historic districts, as intellectual and aesthetic interest.
